Commercial Helicopter Pilot Licence Training

The Commercial Pilot Licence (Helicopter) allows you to work commercially as a helicopter pilot within Australia.  The work available for a commercial helicopter pilot in Australia is diverse and can range from tourism to agriculture and everything in between

Flight training

Your flight training will consist of a minimum of 150 hours (or 105 hours for CAR5 licence), which will include the following aspects:

• Elementary Handling
• Circuits
• Navigation
• Emergency procedures
• Basic Instrument flight (part 141 only)
• Ridgeline and Pinnacle operations

Theory

The following topics are covered in the Commercial Pilots Licence:

• Flight rules and air law
• Human factors
• Navigation
• Meteorology
• Operations, performance and planning
• Aircraft general knowledge
• Aerodynamics

Each subject requires a separate exam that is conducted at an independent exam centre at the Jandakot airport,

Study is conducted either via self-study, correspondence or full/part time, the choice is yours and is largely based around how you learn best, work or other commitments.

Aircraft

You will have the option to complete your training in the following aircraft types:

• Robinson R22
• Robinson R44
• Bell 206
• Eurocopter AS350
• Eurocopter EC120
• Eurocopter EC130

Flight Test

Once your training is completed and you’re a competent helicopter pilot you will be required to undergo a flight test, don’t worry its nothing you haven’t already learned. Corsaire Helicopter Flight Training can conduct your flight test in house by our Head of Operations, Trent Clayton. Having already flown with Trent throughout your licence will remove the “test” stigma.

• Sling Operations Rating
• Type Ratings
• Low Level Operations
• Instructor Rating
